The church I pastor, Lighthouse Community Church, has what we refer to as a Ministry Year. Each year on the Sunday after Labor Day I announce our theme for the upcoming year. From September until the end of June our ministries will be in full operation and will be unified by that year’s theme.
In September of 2009 I announced the theme “Proclaiming the year of the Lord’s Favor”. You can listen to that sermon here. In that sermon I stressed that we live in a time of God’s favor (Grace) as opposed to his judgment. As such we who are his follower’s ought to be as urgent in declaring the good news as Jesus was.
This ministry year has been one where we have focused on being a disciple making station. We have covered everything from sharing the gospel to identifying and reaching various people groups. We have prayer walked our community and taken up the mantle of servant evangelism. We have become disciples and committed to reproducing disciples.
Two Sundays from now we will celebrate what God has done in our presence. We will rejoice in the ways he has used us. We will recommit to making this a way of life and foundational to the way our church operates.
I light of what has been a powerful year I present 10 quotes that have continued to fuel my fire to be a living mouthpiece for God.
“I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.” – Apostle Paul
“For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” – Apostle Paul
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Jesus
“Every Christian is either a missionary or an impostor” – Charles Spurgeon
“You can’t plan a revival you can only prepare for one” – unknown
“To engage people in culture we must remember that holiness is separation from sin, not from sinners.” – Ed Stetzer
“Lost people are not the enemy they are prisoners of war” – Ed Stetzer
“Too many people are tripping on the stumbling block of the church before they get to the stumbling block of the gospel.” – Ed Stetzer
“I believe God has me here to stand at the gates of hell and re-direct traffic” – unknown
“I’m not afraid of failing as much as I am afraid of being successful at that which doesn’t matter” – unknown
What are some quotes that drive you?

My favorite quote of all time probably has to be either these two.
Yoda: Do or Do not there is no try.
Then this long one from the last Rocky...which is why I liked that one about Tommy Gunn
Rocky Balboa: Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that!
