This will be my last regular post for a few weeks. I have decided to take a break from daily blogging during the months of July and August. At my church we use these months to pare back ministries, rest, and hear from God. I’ve decided that this will be one of the ministries I pare back on. I may post from time to time but I will not do so on a fixed schedule. I invite you to continue following me on Twitter as I will continue to tweet on a regular basis.
I have truly enjoyed the interaction my posts have generated, most offline, and I look forward to reviving these and many other discussions in the Fall. In the meantime I plan to focus on three areas.
1. Fellowship with God.
I am looking forward to extended times of prayer, meditation and Bible Study. I have been asking God to renew my passion in my relationship with Him. In order to prioritize this I am clearing a lot of my schedule. Less “doing” more “being”.
2. Reading
For me, one of the joys of summer used to be reading. It started as a child and even as an adult I would compile a stack a of 10-12 books that I intended to work through during the Summer months. I haven’t done this in at least 4 years and I plan to get back to it this summer. In fact, I plan to fast from TV in the evenings in order to devote time to reading. I also want to read a diverse selection. Fiction, non-fiction, secular and Christian authors, classics, I’m open to them all and invite your suggestions.
3. Writing
For some time I have wanted to write a book. Knowing myself I’ve been very selective about what I will write. In the past I have started projects then lost passion and never completed them. Recently, God has used some personal trials to shed light on a subject that I would like to write about. Since it is very personal and will be a ministry in my own life, I know I will remain passionate about the project. It will also require some research and interviews which is what I am hoping to work on over the next two months.
Well, you know what I’ll be doing this summer, how about you? What are your plans?
